Role summary / purpose

The Process Engineer Ergonomist assists the plant ergonomics program, partnering with production engineering, safety, medical, labor, and plant leadership to identify and reduce ergonomic risks. The role assesses and improves workstations, analyzes injury and medical trends, supports new-model launches and process changes, and ensures compliance with ergonomics standards. Through data analysis, employee training, and cross-functional continuous improvement, this position promotes employee well-being while supporting safety, quality, and operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and improve workstations to reduce ergonomic risks
• Analyze injury and medical trends to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement
• Support new-model launches and process changes with ergonomic considerations
• Ensure compliance with ergonomics standards
• Conduct data analysis to inform decision-making
• Provide employee training on ergonomic best practices
• Lead cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements - education & experience

• Bachelor's degree in ergonomics, engineering, industrial engineering, human factors, kinesiology, occupational health, safety, or a related field
• At least one year of experience in ergonomics, manufacturing, industrial engineering, safety, or a related technical area
• Experience conducting ergonomic assessments and implementing workplace improvements

• Excellent communication abilities
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Proficiency with data analysis tools

Nice-to-have / preferred skills

• Master's degree
• Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) credential
• Automotive manufacturing or launch experience
• Familiarity with ergonomic simulation tools
